William Seward III
Chief Seward has been Chief since 2005 and has 40 years of emergency service experience that includes 30 years of service with the City of New Haven Fire Department, retiring in 2008 after having served as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, and Director of Training. As the Towns Fire Chief, he is responsible for the management, administration and control of the fire department including planning, coordination, organization, direction and supervision of all fire suppression, prevention, rescue, training activities and emergency medical service operations. He is also responsible for the preparation and supervision of preventive maintenance programs for the care and protection of fire apparatus, buildings and equipment owned by the town. He also assists the Board of Fire Commission in the preparation of its annual budget and works with the town manager in order to deliver effective fire and life safety services. Chief Seward served as the Emergency Management Director, coordinating emergency planning and preparedness activities for the town in concert with the State of CT Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The Fire Chief is the Chairperson for the Region 2 ESF-10, New Haven area Special Hazards Team and member of the New Haven FBI EOD/WMD Task Force. He was appointed as a safety officer for the CT West Incident Management team and is the Hazmat (ESF-10) representative to the State of CT Homeland Security Working Group. Chief Seward is a graduate of the University of New Haven with an A.S. in Fire/Occupational Safety and a B.S. in Fire Administration.
Anthony Esposito currently serves as Deputy Chief. Anthony is a product of the Junior fire department, and a proud 39 year member. Anthony has held several positions including firefighter, Captain, District Chief, Interim Chief, and Deputy Chief. Anthony was also elected to the Board of Fire Commission at age 22, which he served for 9 years on the board, including last years as Chairman. Anthony has been an EMT since 1982 and EMS Instructor since 1989.
Deputy Chief - Training Officer
Robert Colangelo currently serves as Deputy Chief-Training Officer. He too is a product of the Junior Fire Department, and has been in department for over 28 years. He has held many positions, including Firefighter, Foreman, Lieutenant. Robert is also a career Firefighter for the Wallingford Fire Department since 1998 and currently holds the rank as Battalion Chief. Robert has been an EMT since 1985, and a Paramedic since 1992.
